Endowment

Nothing provides more security for a school than a healthy endowment.

What is the Endowment and how is it invested?
Throughout the history of the school, the Endowment has grown and brought increasing financial stability to GCDS and expanded support for our educational programs. Endowment monies are held in principal and invested by the school. The Endowment Committee of the Board of Trustees in conjunction with investment management firms decide how the endowment monies are invested.

What is the size of the Country Day Endowment?
The market value as of June 2012 was $44 million. The current endowment produces $1,582,272 in income for the operations of the school. The income transferred to the school for operations is determinded by formula.

What is the purpose of having an Endowment?
Endowment is an important source of funds to support the operating budget and minimize tuition increases. The interest on the invested monies is used each year in conjunction with unrestricted Annual Fund dollars to run GCDS. Last year, endowment income and Annual Fund dollars were used to support faculty salaries as well as academic technology across all three divisions, and improvements in faculty housing across the campus.

What is the Class of 2013 Endowment?
Initiated as part of the Annual Fund Campaign, this Endowment fund honors the Class of 2013. All gifts made to the 2012-13 Annual Fund by parents and members of the Class of 2013 will fund this Endowment. In celebrating all that our graduating ninth graders have learned during their years at Country Day and the many ways in which they have grown, both in their abilities and their friendships, the Class of 2013 Endowment helps ensure that future classes will continue to have the same extraordinary opportunities at GCDS.

Please join the families of the Class of 2013 in making a gift to Country Day.
