Green Initiatives at GCDS

Country Day’s environmental efforts are grounded in our tradition of responsible practices and commitment to the greater good.

Green, a Parents Association committee, works closely with the faculty and administration to make the campus more sustainable, as well as to inspire our students to take an active interest in protecting the planet’s natural resources.

Recent efforts include:

  • Construction of a Gold LEED certified new Upper School and Performing Arts Center.
  • Creation of rain gardens and biofiltration systems to protect the environmentally sensitive wetland habitats on campus.
  • Introduction of electrolyzed water technology for safer, more effective, chemical-free disinfecting and cleaning in the dining hall and classrooms.
  • Planting of an organic school garden.
