Lessons Learned on the Field

Students in grades 7 - 9 participate in sports during all three seasons. During team practices from 2:30-4:00 p.m. four days a week and regular interscholastic games, Upper Schoolers work on skill mastery, teamwork, strategy, sportsmanship, conditioning, responsibility, dedication, and the commitment necessary for successful competition.
Strong Season Records
GCDS Tigers have a long tradition of strong season records competing in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) junior division. At the varsity level, coaches focus on preparing their players to excel in competitive high school and college athletics.
"Competitive athletics teach students to be comfortable in pressure situations. These moments can crystallize an athlete's focus, and it is important for students to experience that." - Anthony Bowes, Head of Upper School
Teachers Who Coach

Many teachers serve as coaches in the Middle and Upper School athletics programs, reinforcing the connection between learning in the classroom and learning on the playing fields.
