Upper School

The focus of Upper School academics is rigorous preparation for high school, college, and beyond.

Guided and challenged by our exceptional faculty, Upper School students learn to handle new responsibilities and strive for increased levels of excellence.

As our students tackle tough problems, lead class discussions, craft essays, build prototypes, test hypothesis, and present imaginative solutions, they push the limits of their knowledge and expand their range of skills, paving the way for continued success—in both education and life.

Additional Upper School highlights include:

  • As part of the Laptop Program, all Upper School students have their own laptop—a key tool for learning, as well as an opportunity to practice greater responsibility.
  • Class trips to Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, as well as international travel to China, Italy, Spain, and France connect their studies to the wider world.
  • Harkness-style discussions and innovative challenges, such as the ninth grade capstone project, encourage intellectual risk-taking and self-directed learning.
