Middle School Academics

Grades 4 - 6

The Middle School curriculum is carefully calibrated to provide a series of incremental challenges that spark intellectual growth and build confidence.

Our teachers continually look for new ways to teach to each child’s strengths. Whether students are new to GCDS or entering from the Lower School, the Middle School offers a welcoming and supportive environment for learning.

Numerous interdisciplinary projects—such as the fourth grade Fiesta Mexicana, which combines social studies, Spanish, language arts, visual art, and woodshop—make academic study both meaningful and memorable.

As students dive into explorations of the Civil War or electrical circuits, Ancient Egypt or fractions, Spanish pronunciation or Chinese history, they establish an essential foundation of core academic skills and key life skills.
